An outstanding volunteer from LEMR has been recognised by Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort as part of the official Coronation celebrations in conjunction with Royal Voluntary Service.
Charlie Heron volunteers with Lincolnshire Emergency Medical Response(LEMR) and has been recognised for their contribution and crowned a Coronation Champion. This follows a call out to the nation to nominate their volunteer heroes. Almost 5000 entries were received, with nominations made for individuals aged 14 up to 103.
Charlie impressed the judges with his commitment to being a Volunteer Emergency Responder for over 8 years and PR/Fundraising Manager for LEMR. In particular, the COVID-19 Pandemic affected the income of many charities and Charlie reacted to this by creating innovative ways to secure the funding required to ensure the LEMR charity continued to operate.
With the support of Her Majesty The Queen Consort, a passionate advocate of volunteering and President of Royal Voluntary Service, the Coronation Champions Awards were launched to recognise exceptional volunteers from across the country at this momentous point in history. Across the UK, 500 Champions dazzled the judging panel with the impact of their work, their inspirational stories and unwavering commitment to volunteering.
All Coronation Champions, including Charlie, have been invited to attend one of the official Coronation celebrations, such as the Windsor Castle Coronation Concert or a Coronation Garden Party. They will also receive a specially designed, official Coronation Champions pin and a certificate signed by Their Majesties.
Commenting on becoming a Coronation Champion, Charlie said: “It is an honor and truly humbling to be recognised with this award for my work with LEMR. At LEMR we are a team and although my name may be on the award I feel it is recognition for the teams effort as a whole. I look forward to accepting Their Majesties invitation and celebrating this once in a lifetime event alongside the other Coronation Champions in London.”
Charlie will be attending the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on the 7th May.
