The 4th February saw the second of our newly implemented recruitment events.
As with everything we do we endeavour to evolve and a decision was made by the management committee in 2022 to try and adapt our way of recruitment. The aim of the new recruitment process is to ensure everyone who applies to join the scheme gets the same understanding of requirements and expectations from the scheme and applicants alike.
Holding recruitment days allows applicants to see first hand the kit, cars and the scheme compound, as well as have access to scheme members to allow them to ask any questions they may have.
The day started at 0900 in the Headquarters of the Central Flying School (CFS) at RAF Cranwell with an introduction from the scheme Ops Manager, Matt Bailey MBE, complete with free biscuits!
There was then an introduction from other volunteers who attended the days: Andy Thorpe, Matt Williams, Chris Phipps, Charlie Heron, Vicky Brown and Sean Plant.
The Ops Manger then took the applicants through the life of a LEMR responder, shift pattern, geographical area covered and training provided, along with other commitments our volunteers are expected to sign up to including further training, Publicity and fundraising events.
After a short break interviews were held with those waiting being shown around the vehicles and kit carried. This wrapped up our time in the CFS building and we proceeded to the scheme compound to show applicants around the facilities, and after a quick photo the day was concluded!
In total over the two days we had 19 applicants with 15 new observers taken on to start over the coming months.
Feedback was positive and the scheme have decided to implement the new recruitment policy as standard practice moving forward!
A few photos from they day are below.
